OPENING IN OCTOBER OF 2020!
Check out our campus Facebook page for weekly updates on how things are going!
We are conveniently located off from Route 2 in Williston, just past Taft Corners at 135 Talcott Road. The school is currently being renovated from office space to our newest school! With brick floors for the Preschool and Early Preschool classrooms, high ceilings, and schoolhouse windows to let in the natural light. Our Infant Toddler Classrooms will be on the other side of the building that was conference rooms. We are also currently working on the outdoor space that will be our Outdoor Classroom and trails on the property to encourage the natural curiosity of the children. We will be submitting for 4 STARS the day we open to be able to offer Act 166 funds to families as soon as we are approved.
We are excited to announce that Miranda will be our new Director at Next Generation Williston Campus!!
She is a newcomer to Vermont by way of Connecticut and Indiana. She moved to Connecticut in 2000 to start her undergraduate degree in English and American History at the University of Connecticut. In 2004 she completed her Bachelor’s degree and took her first position as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher at a program in Glastonbury, CT called Foundations For Learning. In 2005, she started her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education/Special Education with certification at the University of Hartford. In 2008 she completed her Master’s degree and opted to spend time traveling to Western Europe before starting her career. In October of 2009, she returned to Foundations For Learning and began working as the Program Director and Lead Pre-Kindergarten teacher and has continued there until her transition to Next Generation!
As a Program Director, Miranda has managed a team of 25 staff along with approximately 100 students each year. She has focused her leadership around classroom center modeling in which she works side by side with the staff as they navigate the ups and downs of each day. Her ability to individualize the early educational experiences of children and their families has made her an advocate and confidante of many of the families that she has grown to love over the past 16 years.
On a more personal level, Miranda is a mother of 6-year-old twins that are both very excited about the prospect of learning to ski! Her favorite things to be found doing with free time are gardening, running, hiking/biking, reading, painting, and writing letters to friends and family the old-fashioned way! One of the things that she says she has kept since childhood is her curiosity, which is the driving force behind not only the type of person she is and the types of experiences she seeks; but also, in the type of curriculum and events that she creates for her program.
As Miranda makes her way to Vermont, her goal is to bring her curiosity, experience, and her willingness to learn and try new things to her new life. Although she has loved and valued her position in Connecticut, she is eager to spend more time in the mountains and to create a more mindful and balanced life in a place that provides beauty, peace, and new adventures! We are so excited to have Miranda part of the Next Generation Team and lead our Williston Campus.
At Next Generation, we are a team. The staff is comprised of licensed and certified teachers that come from various backgrounds in the Early Childhood Education field. Next Generation teachers are enrolled in classes to further their education each semester to maintain their credentials and their Early Childhood Education. Next Generation strives to provide better than state recommended staffing ratios each day; thus, teachers are allowed to truly engage with each child as they discover the world around them. The Next Generation team focuses on providing a curriculum that meets the needs of each child in the classroom as they develop. Next Generation's team of teachers takes pride to meet the needs of each child as they investigate nature-based discovery each day.
